Arp 39 (NGC 1347)
![]() |
At
last, a member of the Spirals with LSB Companions on Arms where the companion is
obvious. Arp 39 does not have a lot of clearly defined structure, even in
the Atlas image, and this image shows about all there is to see. The field
is full of background galaxies, best seen in the negative image.
The image is a combination of two images taken almost a year apart. The second was a little sharper but the first was deeper. The combination seems to show the best features of each.
