Arp 217 is in the class Adjacent Loops. The Atlas note is "much H-alpha
emission incl. half arc outside galaxy". I think the half arc that is
mentioned in the note is the arc on the right (west) side of the galaxy.
There is another quarter arc about twice as far from the core. It is
extremely faint and not easy to see even in the negative image, but it is
fairly obvious in the false color image. It starts just south of the pair
of stars to the northwest and ends at the bright star due north.
This image was taken on a nearly perfect night in
late January, 2006, which, as far as I can determine, was my most productive night
during the entire project. I managed to image eight Arps that night.
