| This is another of the LSB Spirals. It is
peculiar by almost any definition. To me, it appears to have an
incipient bar running nearly N-S. The Atlas notes say "low surface
brightness dwarf. Large bright knot in arm appears almost stellar". The positive image is one of the very few to which I
applied Background Smoothing. The image was taken on a less than perfect
night -- slightly hazy -- and Background Smoothing did eliminate a lot of noise,
at the cost of smudging out some of the fine detail. The negative
image was not smoothed.
I saw four very bright Perseid meteors during my
night of imaging.
